1. Purpose
The Workplace Quick Check is designed to provide an affordable initial written review of one workplace problem or one connected sequence of events.
A single workplace problem may involve several related issues. For example, the same circumstances might involve a disciplinary process, sickness absence and a disability concern. They do not become separate enquiries simply because more than one employment issue may arise from the same underlying situation.
2. Where the service is available
The standard £39 Workplace Quick Check is available for workplace matters in England, Wales and Scotland.
If your matter relates to Northern Ireland, please contact us directly at quickcheck@aubreyinternational.com rather than using the standard Quick Check process so that we can consider your enquiry separately.
3. Information and documents
We do not impose an arbitrary public word, page or document limit.
You may provide the background information and documents reasonably necessary for us to understand the workplace problem you would like us to consider.
The service is nevertheless subject to fair use.
Fair use takes into account not only the quantity of material supplied, but also its complexity, organisation, duplication, readability and the time reasonably required to understand it.
A longer, clearly organised document may be straightforward to review. Conversely, a large number of screenshots, fragmented messages, duplicated correspondence or an extensive unstructured chronology may require substantially more work.
If the material provided is more than can reasonably be considered as part of a £39 initial review, we may ask you to:
- identify the documents or information you consider most important;
- provide a shorter chronology or explanation;
- remove duplicated or irrelevant material; or
- agree a different scope of work where a more substantial review is required.
4. Additional material
Fair use also applies to information and documents provided after your initial submission.
If substantial additional information or documents are supplied after we have begun the review, we will consider whether they can reasonably be included within the original Quick Check.
Where they materially expand the enquiry or the work required, we may complete the Quick Check on the basis of the material already supplied or discuss with you whether additional review would be appropriate.
We will not undertake additional chargeable work without agreeing this with you first.
5. Follow-up questions
Reasonable clarification questions and questions arising directly from our written Quick Check are included on a fair-use basis.
These should normally be raised within seven days of our response.
Fair-use follow-up does not include:
- a new or materially different workplace problem;
- substantial new evidence;
- significant events occurring after our review;
- extensive further document review;
- drafting or rewriting correspondence or documents;
- negotiation or representation;
- repeated or continuing advice; or
- effectively managing the workplace matter on an ongoing basis.
If further work would be appropriate, we will explain the options before any additional fee is incurred.
6. Urgent matters
The £39 Workplace Quick Check is not an emergency or guaranteed same-day service.
If you require assistance before a particular imminent meeting, hearing or deadline, the enquiry may instead require our Emergency Employment Review, which is separately scoped and available from £149, subject to availability.
No urgent deadline is accepted or guaranteed unless Aubrey International expressly confirms it.
7. What happens if fair use is exceeded?
Reaching the fair-use boundary does not create an automatic additional charge.
If we consider that the enquiry requires substantially more work than can reasonably be provided through the £39 Workplace Quick Check, we will explain this to you.
We may suggest narrowing the question or material so that it can remain within the Quick Check, or explain what other options are available.
No further paid work will be undertaken unless you agree the scope and fee first.
8. Relationship with the service terms
This Fair Use Policy applies to the Workplace Quick Check and should be read alongside the Workplace Quick Check Terms, Privacy Notice and Aubrey International Fixed Fee Policy.
If you have a question about whether something falls within fair use, you can contact quickcheck@aubreyinternational.com.
